Tarantas Rosé NV: Lovely, easy-on-the-eyes rose-raspberry color; strawberry nose; pink grapefruit, strawberry, on the palate, nibble of lime on the finish;
light body, dry, bright acidity; drinks more like a sauv blanc that comic-book sweet rosé (a good thing). Organically grown near Valencia, Spain; made with bobal grapes—a signature of Valencia region. Bobal is third-most planted grape in Spain, behind airén and tempranillo; it most often is grown as a bush rather than on trellises (photo). Bobal has higher than average resveratrol—the natural phenol in wine that may have health benefits—so this wine is not only lovely to look at, nice to drink, it also may fight heart disease and cancer. All for a Hamilton or less—hard to beat that deal. Light, lovely effort at terrific price. $8-11
Second photo is bobal grape bush.
