Medium gold color; yellow apple, pineapple on the nose; yellow apple, pear, lemon, minerality on the palate.
Dry; medium body and medium acidity. Interesting salinity and minerality on the finish. “Em rama” is aged under flor 18 months in neutral barrels. Flor is a film of yeast on the surface of wine, protecting the wine beneath from oxygen. It particularly is associated with sherry. Here it is used to evoke thyme and seashell aromas and pear rind and lemon peel. Medium body. 14% ABV
Hound’s Tree ‘En Rama’, North Fork of Long Island 2018 is zesty, taut, intriguing wine. Sadly, the Brooklyn-based winery and wine bar seems to have closed. The website no longer is active, although it appears to hav been functional this summer (2022). In any event, if you come across this unicorn wine, it is worth a sip. $30
