Bodegas Costers del Sió is a family-owned winery in the Catalonia region of Spain. The story begins in 1992 when Juan de Porcioles fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in the countryside cultivating land and raising livestock. He acquired an estate then known as Sinca de Flix, a point of the Sió River. The Porcioles-Buixó family took ownership, eventually changing the name to Bodegas Costers del Sió. The first vineyards were planted in 1998. The effort not only fulfilled Juan’s lifelong dream, it also helped revive winemaking in the Costers del Segre region.
The Costers del Sió winery was established in 2006. Today, Juan’s wife and children continue to work to realize the founder’s vision. The wine showcases the Sió River and Catalunya’s terroir and the family’s commitment to organic viticulture.
