Château Beaubois covers some 150 acres in Costiéres de Nîmes in the Southern Rhône Valley. Fanny and François Boyer, brother and sister, are fourth-generation owners of the vineyard and winery. Margueritte and René Mouret started the operation in 1920. René was a country doctor on horse, Margueritte was one of the first women in the region to manage a winery. The operation is located midway between Costiéres de Nîmes and the Mediterranean Sea. The vineyard soil primarily is small stone pebbles, which helps warm the vineyard. Mistral winds limit the effects of disease, and thermal winds from the Mediterranean help cool things down in the hottest times of summer, preserving freshness.

The label is printed on a real piece of light denim cloth. The wine celebrates the heritage of Costiéres de Nîmes, where the first denim twill cloth was created in the 17th century. The name “denim” comes from “de Nîmes.” The Nîmes weavers were attempting to replicate a popular cloth called “jeane” made in Genoa, Italy, when they accidentally created a unique and sturdy textile. Denim is made using a twill weave where the warp threads are dyed indigo and the weft threads remained white. The result is a fabric where the signature blue color is on one side and white on the other. The process made its way to the U.S. in the late 18th century, with the word “denim” first appearing in a Rhode Island newspaper in 1789.
