Brand co-founded by actress Cameron Diaz and entrepreneur Katherine Power. Their emphasis was an easily approachable wine made with complete transparency. The Avaline website contains a page with extensive data about the ingredients. The description of sulfites, for instance: “A natural byproduct of fermentation, sulfites stabilize wine. While wine can legally have up to 350ppm of sulfites, we add just enough to ensure our wines taste consistently delicious, always keeping the total amount to under 100ppm, which is below the regulation for wines made with organic grapes.” Worth a visit if you want to know everything about how this wine was made and what is in it.

Avaline Rosé, Vin de France is light crowd pleaser made with cavalcade of classic rosé grapes, led by grenache. This appears to be a négociant operation—grapes are resourced, not estate grown, and likely made in winery that makes wines for several different operations. The key is the celebrity tag with Diaz and Power. That said, this is a nice, pleasant wine that many light rosé wine drinkers will find attractive, especially with it cleanness and responsible, transparent growing and vinifying commitment.

Avaline Rosé, Vin de France easily works as an aperitif or sipped solo on warm day. Very versatile. Charcuterie board star; porsciutto e melone; fresh fruits. Pair with salads, especially ones with fruit elements—strawberry and spinach; grilled, roasted vegetables; seafood—salmon, tuna; light pasta dishes, especially those with seafood; shellfish—boiled shrimp, oysters; chicken dishes with mild spices; lamb—cooked rare; tapas. Cheese—burrata, mozzarella, feta, halloumi, humboldt fog, goat gouda, comté, cambozola, fromage blanc, petite camembert, ricotta. $16-20
