Château de Trinquevedel Tavel (rosé) 2013: White cherry, white raspberry, strawberry, pinch of pepper, passion fruit,
citrus tang and minerality on the finish; fresh, clean; medium body, lovely salmon-rose color; five-grape blend led by grenache and cinsault. Imported by always dependable Kermit Lynch, Tavel is a French commune (region) in the southern Rhône that produces only rosé wines with minimum of 11 percent alcohol. It is example of Old World wine name where the location—Tavel—is part of the name and tells you much about the wine. Odd fact: Ernest Hemingway was big fan of Tavel, so don’t let anyone tell you rosé is sissy pour. $18
