Deep gold color; lemon-lime, peach, apricot, pineapple, jasmine, sage, minerality-saline on the nose and palate.
Dry; faint-to-no tannins; good acidity. Medium body with richness. Some complexity and length. Made with 100% pecorino grapes, an ancient variety now resurgent in the Abruzzo region, two driving hours east of Rome. The Apennine Mountains are the western border, the Adriatic Sea the eastern border of the region. The story is you can ski in the mountains in the morning and go to the beach in the afternoon. The Adriatic presence helps give the wine is minerality and saline hints. 13% ABV
Codice Vino is a young Italian winery established in 2018. It was founded in Ortona, Abruzzo, Italy by Valentino di Cammpli, CEO of Code Wine Azienda Agricola SRL. Ortona is a resort town on the Adriatic Sea. The estate farms some 300 acres and touts its high-tech winemaking equipment.

Codice Vino Pecorino d’Abruzzo DOC 2020 is a clean, fresh, smooth, rich version of the pecorino grape, a variety with increasing presence in the Abruzzo region of central-eastern Italy. The winery, located in a resort town on the Adriatic coast, is relatively new enterprise offering good value as it asserts itself in the wine world. Pair with seafood—grilled shrimp, shellfish, grilled fish; steamed white fish with ginger; fried calamari, other fried fish; ceviche; white meats—pork, chicken, duck, turkey; vegetable-based pastas and risottos; fresh salads; appertizers and snacks; cured meats; charcuterie board.
