One Atlas Peak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009: Intense crimson color; berries, vanilla nose; blackberry, black cherry, pinch of prune,
hint of blackcurrant tang, blush of blueberry; very smooth, soft tannin, gentle acidity, hints of sweat oak. Vividly delicious wine (particularly after some air/decant). Classic problem: only 288 cases produced, less than 3,500 bottles. You will be hard-pressed to find this in your local store (but give it a shot, it will be worth it). This is classic problem for professional wine tasters: many fabulous wines we are privileged to taste are not generally available. Atlas Peak is legendary part of Napa: high elevation, well-drained soils, gravelly loam ideal for growing cab; wines from this soil wonderfully exhibit structure, acceptable tannin, impressive structure, and deliciously rich fruit. I pray you are able to taste, particularly at this impressive price. $36
