Sextant Wines is a property of Craig and Nancy Stoller. They are owners of Sunridge Nurseries, that expanded into their wine adventure. The website notes: “Craig and Nancy Stoller began with a vision of planting wine grapes to grow the nursery. Through their combined experience and love of wine, they grew a single vineyard block into what Sextant Wines is today.”
Sextant is part of the Craig Stoller Collection. Other labels include Windemere and Paris Valley Road. The operation is located in Paso Robles. The Edna Valley tasting room is in San Luis Obispo. There is another tasting room at the winery.
Sextant Wines Verdejo White Wine, Paso Robles 2019 is tart, tasty, straightforward. No bells and whistles, clean presentation of verdejo without influence of oak or malolactic fermentation. Tart lemon-lime and honeydew melon play nicely together. Pleasant mouthfeel on the initial attack and mid-palate. Tartness lingers on extended finish. Pair with both rich and lean fish dishes; fish tacos; paella; shellfish; pasta dishes; baked chicken; vegetarian fare. Cheese—goat cheeses; pecorino, feta, mozzarella, humbolt fog. If the fare or cheese pairs with sauvignon blanc, it is very likely to do well with this effort. $20
