Toad Hollow Cabernet Sauvignon 2013: Inky color; some cherry, dark fruits on the nose; dark cherry, more cherry, then black olive,
plum, blackberry on the palate; mainly cab with dribbles of other grapes thrown in. Somewhat one-dimensional, supermarket pour. Nothing terrible, but struggles to wow; does not rise to level of Toad Hollow’s unoaked chard, but is serviceable. Price is high for second-bottle, pizza and burger wine. That stated, it is not terrible and maybe this bottle was on the left end of the standard distribution curve for this effort. It happens. And even with its flavor flatness, it is surely a quaffable effort. Such is the joy of wine today. $17
